I hope it picks up soon. I'd be playing it instead of posting here if I wasn't bored with cutscenes outweighing gameplay..
I'm only up to the "Struggle" so I can't give an honest opinion about it yet. I liked the first Kingdom Hearts theme better than KH2. Kinda difficult to make out the lyrics.
saw the previews...looks really good. You think it's going to be like FF series?

Normally I don't care for voice acting but the voices of Cid and Aeris are really disappointing. Cid sounds like a weak old man and Aeris has no life in her voice.
Why did they have to pick celebrities? --; I really don't know why they didn't just reuse the same VAs from KH. If they went with celebrities I really hope they had POTC do their own voices.
It's been really boring so far that I haven't been playing it as much as I should. The battle system is a lot better and the Reacton and Drive commands make things more interesting.
I don't think this will end up like FF.

OxO I've been keeping my mouth shut about this game. Haha, my friends desperately want to know when you get this and that, and I'm just here silent. They kept annoying the hell out of me, I decided to give away a hint of the ending. They didn't talk about the game since then. =P
I didn't play the American version yet. Don't plan to because the Japanese version is way cooler, even if you're staring at the words, not knowing what the hell these mean. XD
If you guys play the Japanese version, there's one scene where it sounds like Donald Duck saying," Suck my-quack!" XD
I agree with Rigor. Why do they have to pick celebs to do the voice acting? Why not the every day people that are walking down the street...? =P I blame those guys that were picking them.

I really think they did a better job as Squaresoft. Ever since they merged and became Square-Enix, that's when I think they started to suck.
Anyway, a little after finally getting to Sora's part, the game picks up. The Roxas part, although necessary to the story was kinda dragged on too long. They should've balanced it with more gameplay to keep me awake. The only thing you could really beat up so much was Seifer.
Flying the gummi ship is now a lot better than before. It's a bit more interesting and you're not just flying straight into space where the only changes in the environment is colors.
The battle system for me, is perfect this time. The Reaction, Limits, and Drives make things more interesting and forces button mashers to use them in certain battles.
The Coliseum is also much better this time around.
For voices they should've used anime voice actors. And I don't mean the overused VAs.
how's the game now? I want to buy it...but not sure...if I bought number 2 without playing number 1, how would that effect the gameplay?

You will be absolutely lost in the storyline. Gameplaywise, KH 2 is a huge improvement over the first KH.
I suggest reading spoilers online for Kingdom Hearts and Chain of Memories. There are a lot of plot twists in KH2 and is very deep.
KH is only about $20 or less these days and COM, used will cost a lot less than that. It's worth it. You get to see Cloud. Your favorite person...
what the hell is COM? suppose to be a seqeul to KH? Never mind just gonna google it...yea I was planning to get KH in a few days.

Completed it.
Rating: 8/10
Pros:
- Reaction Commands made battles a bit interesting
- Battle system improved
- Good story, lots of twists
- Drive Forms
- Leveling up Drive Forms is challenging
- Sephiroth is a Very difficult Boss. Possibly the most difficult in the entire game. Don't even try unless you're damn good or at least level 80.
- Limits and Overdrives could be used alone or in tandem with world specific characters like Auron and Simba
- Mt. Olympus is no longer just a Coliseum
- Story explains history of COM very well
- Nobodies
- Missons/Activites that are stimulating and involve actual WORK
- Real-time battle. No turn based attack
- New Worlds
- Disney storylines stick to original plot while being incorporated into the game without any problems
- Stat Bonuses recieved during boss battles
- Underworld Coliseum is interesting instead of just beating enemies up
- A different method required to level up all drive forms
Cons:
- Horrible choice of voice actors
- Camera gave no problems but actually adjusting it, is the issue
- It is absolutely unnecessary to complete all missions and Jiminy's Journal just to see the actual ending. Secret ending maybe, but not the actual ending
- No Experience Points in Boss Battles
- God Awful Singing in Atlantica
- No dodge roll
- Can only learn Abilities like Super Glide only if you leveled up a Drive form to the required level. In the first game, such abilities were found/earned on its own.
- Same Old Bosses in some worlds
- Battles weren't difficult enough to where Drives or Summons would be needed to use
- Roxas Mode in the beginning.. VERY boring, gameplaywise.
- Drive form does NOT fill back up like HP and MP upon saving your game
- Small Keyblade Selection
that was fast man...seems like a good game. Would you ever rate it among the top 5 ever played?

Probably not. It's a bit easy even on hard mode but don't expect it to be a walk in the park since I said that.

Real Time battle?
Just like Final Fantasy 12.
I guess there moving out of the Turn-Based battles.
It was getting a little boring.

Didn't you preorder yours? Did you get the Limited Edition Strategy guide?
I wonder what's in it... I took someone's reserved copy when I went and got mines and couldn't get it.
For anyone who hasn't played it yet, I recommend you going into Proud Mode. You get to see the secret ending much easier and it's really not too difficult.

Haha, yeah, playing KH2 is quick. My stupid friend completed the game in less than a week. I don't like playing the American version since it totally screws up my ears when it's the cutscene, but yeppers. Hey Rigor, can I send in your reasons about the game to Enix? I'm trying to collect a lot of people's view on the game. It's part of my job as a beta tester. x_X

Go ahead. I'm surprised you didn't just check the Gamefaqs for Rabid fanboy or rod-up-the-ass-critic reviews.
I haven't found many reviews there too helpful because some were either too into the hype while others try too hard to look cool by giving something the lowest rating possible.
KH2 was a bit short. It probably felt shorter than it actually was because some of the worlds were familiar and so were some of the bosses.
Considering it's a 3 part game, it's not too bad but you kinda expected a lot more for a game that's been delayed numerous times.
I heard IGN or something gave it a very low rating. 7/10 is low or did they change their score?

Well, I actually try to get honest opinions toward the game. When I'm reading other reviews and they don't actually point out some examples to support their rating, then I don't accept it. Other beta testers do and it annoys Enix/Soft sometimes.
A KH freak I am, I rate it a 9/10 since I'm in love with the series of the game. They made the game play hours shorter this time since they were also working on various projects. I won't let anything out until it's been heard throughout the world.
I actually ignore those big companies/magazines/w.e. on their ratings since they sometimes fail to support one part of a game. Like X-Play (I dunno if you guys have G4TV or not) they rated the game like a 3.5/5, they put reasons that make people die of laughing while it's actually serious to some game players.
But yeah, if any of you guys complete the game, be honest and give your best reviews. x_X I'm already tired of hearing my stupid friend crying when he said that the scene that I describe the ending was accurate and I'm like, "Don't talk about anymore KH games then, you dope."
Tor, I suggest buying the first game too if you want. KH 1.5 Chain of Memories was actually good, but a little annoying when a stupid Heartless pops up out of nowhere and you're battling it again and again. But it's also good to collect these cards to get access through the doors. I completed my KH collection. Just need to move to a new house and have a bigger bedroom that would actually support all these collection of other things I have.

Hey is there a move that Sephiroth uses that disables your magic shortcuts?
Or is there some sort of game limit for cures? In other boss battles I was able to cure anytime when my MP gauge was ful. That didn't work with him even if my MP was full. I could only cure just once when fighting him and I actually had to strategize a bit to beat him.
I wouldn't say he was as difficult like in KH1 but he just does a lot of damage which made him tricky this time around.
<--- does not read instruction booklet. Just rushes into game head on.

Well got KH2 7 days about, in 3 days i finished the game and 4 days to find the ultima weapon. I had to play in between chores, just because its summer now my perants expect the house to be tip top clean, and i do make it that way.
so i give the game um 10/10
Tor you should buy KH1 first, beat that and buy chain of memories (very confusing) then go on with KH2. Theres so much dramatical shifts in KH2! Like Roxas and Namine.
I found a crazy lvling up place in KH2 it got me to 64-80 in like 15 minutes

heh i just watch the cutscenes of CoM
I could always give you mine. I don't need all my KH stuff right now.
That would be cool, but, can't man. If I do, I'll be days before I do any more updates. Seriously when I get hooked on a game, I can't stop playing it until I beat it. And knowing me, it could be a week since I always strive for the ultimate weapon, sidequests, level up, and crap like that. Thanks for the offer though. I wouldn't want to screw up your game as well. My ps2 is crap...I have the slim version and it scratches pretty much everything.

Gah, I forgot all about this thread. XD
I got KH2 awhile back. The game was too easy. The only parts I found hard were fighting the orginization 13 guy at Beast's castle on the bridge and fighting Sephiroth.
When I first got the Valor mode, it sure was cool. 2 Keyblades at once is a pretty good idea.
