This tutorial will teach you how to make a customized fire text effect.

First open up photoshop, then make a new document 640x480 with a black background. Add white text and center it in the document.

Should look like this:

http://www.romeo-help4u.com/tuts/PS/unsorted/images/fire-1.gif

Okay, now rasterize the text layer and go: Filter>>Stylize>>Wind
leave the Method at Wind and do it twice to the right and then twice to the left.

Should look like this:

http://www.romeo-help4u.com/tuts/PS/unsorted/images/fire-2.gif

Now turn the canvas 90° CW (Edit>>Transform>>Rotate 90° CW). Repeat the Wind process twice to the left and twice to the right again.

Should look something like this:

http://www.romeo-help4u.com/tuts/PS/unsorted/images/fire-3.jpg
[break]
Okay lets rotate the canvas back to the original position. Goto Edit>>Transform>>Rotate 90° CCW.

Lets get down to the colors now. Make the image a grayscale by doing the following, Image>>Mode>>Grayscale
when it asks hit the "Merge" button.

Now we need to make it a Indexed Color,
Image>>Mode>>Indexed Color
and when it asks "Flatten Layers?" hit the "OK" button
Okay for the actual part where we do add color
Image>>Mode>>Color Table...
then a drop up should appear go down and select "Black Body".

http://www.romeo-help4u.com/tuts/PS/unsorted/images/fire-4.gif

Make sure you switch back to RGB Color
Image>>Mode>>RGB Color

Okay, now it should be looking pretty good. For the final touch since the yellow in the flames blends in with the white text lets add text the same font and size and center it in a darker color.

Finished product should look like the following:

If you want to make the text look a little cooler try fooling with a outer glow layer style
Layer>>Layer Style.

damn, dude this is a nice tutorial indeed. The effect is hella sick. Hey you don't mind if, I resize your images for you do you? Also I cut down some of the filesize and hosted it on Rh-4U's server.

Also I submitted it to ps-tuts.com, and it's listed right now. Also to good-tuorials.com under htmlhelp4u.com

did you forget a step...? Maybe between one of these steps.

Now we need to make it a Indexed Color,
Image>>Mode>>Indexed Color

Huh? There was a original text? Just Press the Text Button and click the area where you want the text to be and viola...No need to place or replace anything...It seems that your questions arnt even about this tutorial...Next time, use the Photoshop Help Forum

man... stop asking so many questions which you can figure out by just doing it... thats what i did... ive had photo shopt for about 36 hours and im doin lots of neat stuff... because i have read about 30 TUTs likee this and i just try stuff...

heree is MY advice. JUST TRY W/E! IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOU FUCK UP A "new document" which you have no intention of keeping anyway...

just experiment so you dont annoy the people around you... and go to TUT sites.

heree aree a couple you guys probly dont know:
halocenter.com(actually has some good PS help even though its a halo forum)
gfxunderground.com<<<<<thats wheree i got started...

anyway.. i loved this. it will come in handy for my futuree of sig making... :)

http://x10.putfile.com/10/29909483987-thumb.jpg

thats what i came up with...

and i had an idea. it would be real sweet to make several layers of it... that way the firee is real deep and you could add moree colors to make it look realistic. AND you could animatee it and turn into a gif...

AAWWW i gotta try that.... when i finish it ill post it. :)

hhmmmmmm.. howd that pic get so small?

im still confused... i managed to get a skull to pulsate... but how do you make it wheree it goes from one side to the other like that?
People are at different levels. If they're confused, they ask for help. That's what this forum is for. As far as annoying goes, some people REALLY don't know what they're doing at all. Not everybody is as computer literate either so it really isn't a surprise to see people asking things like, "How do I open a document?" or "How do I save something as a psd?"

Some people really can't figure things out on their own. It's unfortunate but It shouldn't be too difficult to believe either.

Yep. That's what happens when people get Photoshop and think they can make anything they saw which got them to get the program in the first place.

Does anyone know how I can paste the logo I made in my post above onto a new black canvas without it going back to greystyle?

Tor
12-05-2005, 11:08 PM
try flattening the entire canvas. I think from the top of my head you would go to layers > flatten image. beware though once you flatten the image, you can't edit. Just ctrl + z or mac option + z to undo.

Good outcome on your result BTW... :D

Welcome to the forums Harry

Not to bother you but you can only have 1 image in your sig. Both of your images meet the requirements so pick one to stay with...
